My team is researching the best types of supports for unpaid family caregivers who support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Unpaid family caregivers are the BACKBONE of our long term care system. Without them, many people would struggle to live in the community, and it would cost the US a massive amount of money for institutional and nursing home care

Illinois

Our work is critical to keeping the most chronically homeless veterans off the streets and in housing. They deserve our respect and care.

Washington

Work in the movement against domestic violence, most of our funding is federal or federal pass through. We are talking about a pause in funding that will not just result is folks losing jobs but also loss of critical domestic violence services, the most notable being, emergency shelter services.

I am a family physician who provides primary care in a rural federally qualified health center. The freeze will disrupt a vital source of funding for safety net community clinics that are already struggling financially all while continuing to provide services to vulnerable residents.

Vermont

Our research focuses on providing treatment to people with addiction. Both Republican and Democratic politicians endorse funding addiction research due to the immense costs, both financially and, more importantly, to human lives and well-being.

Oklahoma

Well I have cancer and they just cut all federal funding for cancer research, actually ending studies that might have saved countless lives…

We will struggle to provide for the 500 plus older adults in our community. Many are solo-agers with no family. Pretty much every single resident I know held important but lower paying jobs - military, police, teachers, nurses, civil servants, ministers, etc.

Texas

Neurodegenerative diseases are killing 100s of million Americans— we need NIH grant support our research. Freeze on NIH grant reviews, council meetings, all communications means that our research to fund new treatments for people with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (Lou Gehrig disease), frontotemporal dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease cannot continue for much longer.

Pennsylvania

I work at a domestic violence agency, freezing federal funds to our agency would mean that abused women, abused children would not get the aid and support that they need to stay safe from their abusers

Connecticut

Child Advocacy Centers across the nation receive funding through federal grants. CACs assist with child abuse investigations for law enforcement and child protective services. They also provide therapy and other invaluable services to kids and non-offending caregivers.

I work in public health with a focus on HIV prevention and treatment. The communities we serve are suffering and the admin is ensuring we all suffer more.

We are working to help people in all of our hospital communities on track to advance their career, and are especially focused on getting more healthcare professionals at our two rural hospitals that desperately need more nurses and physicians. Our work would have completely stopped.

Virginia

I live in the triangle area of NC with numerous major universities and the research triangle park. Our state is set to lose almost 4,000 research projects to the tune of almost $4 billion in lost wages

I am a social worker- we get about 70% of our funding for foster care placements from federal resources and 30% locally and/or private.
